Privacy Policy

Shohei Nakagawa (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us") establishes the following privacy policy ("Policy") regarding the handling of privacy information in the "World Heritage Walking" application (the "Service").

Article 1: Privacy Policy

  1. "Personal Information" has the meaning under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and refers to information about a living individual that can identify a specific person by description such as name, date of birth, address, phone number, or contact details.
  2. We obtain the following information from users as part of privacy information:
    1. OS‑generated IDs, device type, device identifiers, and other information related to the OS and device you use
    2. Usage history of the Service, such as app launch times, input history, and purchase history
    3. Your location information
    4. Your step count data (see "About Health Connect" below)
    5. Data collected/shared by the Service:
  3. About Health Connect
    The Service connects to Health Connect to obtain step count data from your device. We use step data obtained via Health Connect in compliance with Google's limited use requirements and Health Connect's permissions policy. The Health Connect information used by the Service and how it is used are as follows.
    1. Data linked by the Service: Steps (read‑only)
    2. Usage within the Service: Visualize steps as numbers/graphs/ calendar; progress through World Heritage courses according to the number of steps
    3. Other: Information obtained is handled only by us and is not provided to third parties
    Data protection
    1. During transmission, communications are protected using industry standard encryption protocols (TLS 1.2 or higher).
    2. When handling data within the Service, we encrypt data using appropriate algorithms (such as AES‑256).
    3. In accordance with Health Connect specifications, we access only data that the user has expressly authorized.
    4. Users can revoke the Service's data access permissions and delete stored data at any time.

Article 2: Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information

We collect and use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  1. To provide and develop the Service
  2. To improve user convenience when using the Service
  3. To notify users of in‑Service notices and campaign information
  4. To respond to user inquiries and use necessary information (inquiry content, usage status, contact information, etc.) to provide the Service
  5. For purposes incidental to the above

Article 3: Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

We will not provide Personal Information to third parties without the user's prior consent, except in the following cases or as permitted by laws and regulations:

  1. When required by law
  2. When necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
  3. When particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
  4. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national or local government agency, or a person entrusted by them, in performing affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining the user's consent may hinder the performance of such affairs
  5. When the following items have been notified or announced in advance:
    1. That the purpose of use includes provision to third parties
    2. Items of data provided to third parties
    3. Means or methods of provision to third parties
    4. That provision of Personal Information to third parties will be stopped upon the user's request

Notwithstanding the above, the following cases are not considered provision to third parties:

  1. When we entrust all or part of the handling of Personal Information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  2. When Personal Information is provided due to business succession by merger or otherwise
  3. When Personal Information is used jointly with a specific party, and the items to be jointly used, the scope of joint users, the purposes of joint use, and the name of the person responsible for management of Personal Information are notified to the user in advance or made easily available to the user

Article 4: Disclosure of Personal Information

  1. Upon a user's request to disclose Personal Information, we will disclose it to the user without delay. However, if disclosure falls under any of the following items, all or part of the information may not be disclosed; if we decide not to disclose, we will notify the user without delay. A fee of JPY 1,000 will be charged per request for disclosure.
    1. If there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the user or a third party
    2. If there is a significant risk of hindrance to the proper execution of our business
    3. If it would otherwise violate laws and regulations
  2. Notwithstanding the above, in principle, we will not disclose information other than Personal Information, such as history information and characteristic information.

Article 5: Correction and Deletion of Personal Information

  1. If a user's Personal Information held by us is incorrect, the user may request correction or deletion in accordance with procedures specified by us.
  2. If we determine that it is necessary to respond to such a request, we will correct or delete the relevant Personal Information without delay and notify the user.

Article 6: Changes to this Policy

We may change the contents of this Policy without notifying users.
